A physical education teacher has been arrested by the Town police on the charge of raping his former student at a guest house in Bangalore.
Vivekananda, 51, a physical instructor at Sir M Visvesvaraya Pre-University College, Kyathanahalli in the taluk, allegedly took his 23-year old former student to Bangalore for a game of Tennikoit (ring tennis) on June 15. He booked a room at a lodge near Mysore Bank Circle that day and sexually assaulted her, the girl said in her complaint to the police. He raped her repeatedly and warned against revealing the matter to anyone, she added.
The next morning, the girl is said to have called up her mother and friend and told to them about the incident. She later switched off her mobile phone and went to see her classmate in Visakhapatnam.
The victim’s parents lodged a complaint with the police on June 17. But her complaint came only on Thursday, following which police arrested the suspect, booking him under Section 376 of the IPC.
