The deceased have been identified as Sundara (41) of Bairampalli, Rathnakar Naik (38) of Aruvalli and Gopala Naik (38) of Sasthavu.

A total of 10 labourers were digging the well in the land belonging to Pradeep. It was said that labourers had dug 22 feet deep. The incident occurred when the trio were getting ready to come up after their day’s work.

As soon as the soil caved in, remaining labourers tried their level best to remove the soil which had caved in and save the labourers. However, their efforts went in vain.  As soon as the incident occurred, fire service personnel were rushed to the spot. Two JCB machines were also rushed to the spot to remove the soil. They could retrieve the bodies only after two-and-half hours of effort.
