The sleuths of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), investigating the rape case against seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi of Ramachandrapur Mutt, conducted the mahajar of a house in the city on Monday.

The sleuths spent nearly four hours at the residence of BJP leader H V Rajeev in Vidyaranyapuram here and recorded his statements. The statements of singer Premalatha Diwakar, the complainant, were also recorded. The seer had stayed in the house on Vinobha Bhave Road from June 3 to 8 in 2012, for ‘Ramakatha,’ a series of discourses.

Speaking to mediapersons, Premalatha said she feared that the evidences in the case would be destroyed.

“The attitude of some influential persons regarding the issue is disgusting. A woman coming out openly against sexual assault is not an ordinary thing. Even though I have boldly lodged the complaint, I am losing confidence in the investigation,” she said.

She was accompanied by her husband and a few relatives.
