JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday reiterated that only two members from the Deve Gowda family will be contesting the upcoming Assembly elections.
He went on to add that if there is need for the party to field another family member in the elections, then he will back out of the race.
Kumaraswamy said that he will at "no cost" field his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy or his nephew Prajwal Revanna from Channapatna and Rajarajeshwarinagar constituencies in the elections.
He appealed to the JD(S) workers not to build pressure on the party leadership to field the Anitha and Prajwal.
"Two years ago, I had made an announcement that only two family members will contest the elections. There is no question of me going back on my words, even an inch. We need to bring the party to power. When such is the case, I appeal to the workers to respect my decision," he added.
