Mysuru city, deemed as the Yoga capital of the world, lived up to its tag as yoga enthusiasts participated in the Dasara festivities this year too.

On Tuesday morning, around 500 people, including children, youth and people of all age groups, participated in the ‘Yoga trekking’ and ‘Chamundi Hill climbing competition’, organised as part of the Naada Habba in Mysuru.

Deputy Commissioner D Randeep flagged off the programme at the foot of Chamundi Hill at 6 am. In all, 180 people participated in the Chamundi Hill climbing competition.

The participants were divided into various categories based on age group – children, men, women and senior citizens.

Tough call

The competition for men and women was a tough call right from the beginning. While most of them climbed the steps swiftly, a few were seen resting midway to take a break for a while.

Yoga enthusiasts, ranging from small children and adults up to the age of 70 years, demonstrated yoga postures on the temple premises. They were provided light refreshments after which they climbed down the hill.
