Investigators who are putting together pieces in the Sheena Bora murder case were stunned to realise that family and friends did not notice the absolute digital silence of the victim for the last three years.
Police have established so far that she was murdered on April 24, 2012 and her body was found on May 23, 2012.
“There is absolutely no communication from her side, nothing on e-mails, Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites or phone and this has not caught the attention,” a senior police official told the Deccan Herald. What has stunned the probe team was an April 24, 2012 e-mail from Sheena to Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MOMPL), owned by Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, the company where she worked.
“Sheena Bora had joined Mumbai Metro as an Assistant Manager on June 20, 2011. She took leave of absence on April 24, 2012 and while she was on leave, she sent in her written resignation,” an MOMPL spokesperson said.
The second bit of communication was a text message that her boyfriend Rahul Mukerjea, also her step-brother and son of media tycoon Peter Mukerjea, received.
“I am in the UK living a happy life. Please don’t disturb our parents about our relationship,” was the message on April 29, 2012.
It now appears that Indrani took possession of her daughter’s cellphone and sim cards and also secured the passwords of her e-mail accounts before killing her. It is also possible that her email has been hacked after her death.
“This shows the finer details of the conspiracy....but also reflects the ignorance, deemed ignorance or deliberate ignorance of others,” the police official said.
