After pilgrims from India travelling to Kailash Mansarovar in China through the Nathu La in Sikkim were denied entry into the communist country, New Delhi has taken up the matter with Beijing.
Two groups of 44 and 47 pilgrims from different parts of India are now stranded near Nathu La in Sikkim as Chinese officials guarding the military check post on the border did not allow them to cross over and continue their journey to Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet.
“Yes, there are some difficulties being experienced in movement of Kailash Mansarovar Yatris via Nathu La. The matter is being discussed with the Chinese side,” Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Gopal Baglay said.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj recently flagged off the first batch of this year’s Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims in a ceremony held in New Delhi. The pilgrims, however, could not proceed further after reaching Nathu La through Gangtok — the capital of Sikkim.
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army officials did not allow them to crossciting a landslide somewhere on the road ahead.
