Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not only demolished his opponents in the political arena but has also made it to the markets in a different form during this Deepavali season.

The ‘Modi bombs’ are in great demand in the markets in Uttar Pradesh this Deepavali and the crackers after other celebrities, which used to be popular with the people in the past, have proved to be a damp squib before it.

Though the ‘Priyanka phuljharis’ (sparklers) was trying hard to give the ‘Modi bombs’ some competition, they have only partially succeeded.

According to a report, ‘Modi bombs’ have been selling like hot cakes in the cracker markets in Allahabad and its adjoining areas and they had left others far behind. “There is a great demand for ‘Modi bombs’ this time,” said a wholesale trader in Allahabad.

Cracker companies in Tamil Nadu’s Sivakasi had also made sparklers after Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. “The sparklers after Priyanka are also in demand but not as much as Modi bombs,” the traders said.
According to them, manufacturing companies are not able to meet the demand for ‘Modi bombs’.

There are also crackers after Asian Games gold medalist in boxing Mary Kom also and they were also in demand. The traders said that they had ‘anar’ (colour emitting cracker) after Mary Kom.

The companies also made rockets after Mars Mission. “The Mangal Yan rockets are selling in large numbers,” shopkeepers said.

“It appears the people are very enthusiastic about our Mars Mission,” they said.
There are also crackers named after Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and former cricket star Sachin Tendulkar but there is not much demand for them.
The ‘Modi bomb’, it seems, is all set to scare its rivals this Deepavali.
