Two pilots and two crew members had a narrow escape when an Indian Navy helicopter crashed while landing at a heliport in Maharashtra Thursday, officials said.

The accident took place in Raigad district's Uran village.

"The incident occurred at 10.15 a.m. when the Chetak helicopter was landing after a routine training sortie in the area. Due to some technical snag it had a rough landing and crashed due to the impact," an official source told IANS.

Four persons aboard managed to quickly jump off the chopper safely.

They sustained injuries and have been rushed to the INHS Ashvini, the naval hospital in south Mumbai.

The Indian Navy will probe the incident, the official said.
