Giving fresh hopes to the merger talks between two AIADMK warring factions in Tamil Nadu, chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said that both groups were in touch with each other for the possible reunion bid.

"At present, both groups are in talks. Definitely, both the factions will merge very soon", Palaniswami said. He said misunderstanding between both the groups is "temporary".

Asked about reports on group of AIADMK MLAs going rebel and calling on him to accommodate them in the cabinet, the chief minister ruled out any change in his cabinet.

"They (group of MLAs) met me to discuss issues pertaining their constituencies from where they were elected", he added.

On objections raised by some political leaders to install the portrait of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at the Assembly complex, Palaniswami said, "objection is different and unveiling it as per law is another matter".

He said as per law Jayalalithaa's portrait will be unveiled.
