Qatar Airways is adding 81 more seats on its flight from Doha and Bengaluru from August 1, for expatriates from South India.

At present, Qatar Airways operates a Boeing 787 in the Doha-Bengaluru sector with 254 seats. From August 1, the carrier will replace the aircraft with a Boeing 777, with a capacity of 335 seats.

Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways, said the strengthening of the Doha-Bengaluru route reflects increased passenger demand and reaffirms the airline's continuous expansion strategy for the Indian market.

“There is a large number of expatriates from South India working in Doha, and with the increase in capacity, we aim to offer our customers a superior travel experience and seamless connectivity into the State of Qatar,” he said.

Qatar Airways' growth strategy has always stressed the significance of the Indian market, where it plans to seek even more capacity and increase frequency on existing routes, he added.

“With the new upgraded service, more passengers flying to Doha or onwards will have the opportunity to experience the new state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport,” said a statement from the
airline.
