A series of tremors were felt in Delhi when a quake, measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre in the Hindu Kush ranges off Afghanistan, occurred at 3 p.m. IST Wednesday, an India Meteorological Department official said.

Other parts of north India also felt the tremors.

The quake took place 6.6 km under the surface, the Met Office said, adding that no casualty was reported in the capital.

On April 16, an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale rocked the Pakistan-Iran region -- tremors were felt in Delhi at that time too.
