The desert state of Rajasthan is all set to become the first state in India to allot land for offices of ruling Bharatiya Janta Party.

The state's urban development and housing (UDH) will allot land for BJP offices in 28 of 33 districts. The proposal for the allotment of the land has received the nod from the UDH minister Srichand Kriplani. According to the sources at UDH department,  the land will be allotted on district lease committee (DLC) rates of the area. However no concession will be provided to the ruling party.

The UDH minister who confirmed the approval given to the proposal said, "In 28 districts land will be allotted for BJP offices. We have almost finalised land in all the districts except two. Rajasthan will lead in the land allotment to BJP". Minister cleared that land allotments are made in the public interest. "Any party can approach government and seek land for the construction of their office".

Meanwhile opposition party Congress has critricised the move of the state government. "This is illegal and BJP is in power, which is why it is allocating land for its own offices. Such opportunity should have been given to other parties as well", Archana Sharma, Congress spokesperson told DH.

State BJP had forwarded a proposal for seeking land in all districts of Rajasthan to construct offices. According to the sources in BJP, the newly constructed buildings will follow an identical architecture reflecting the one used in the BJP head quarters in New Delhi.
