The Maharashtra government’s law and judiciary department and the home department have no records of the September 28, 2002, drunken-driving and hit-and-run case involving actor Salman Khan.

Apparently, the records were destroyed in 2012 fire in Mantralaya, which engulfed a significant portion of the law and judiciary department as well as the home department.

A Right to Information application by activist Mansoor Darvesh denied partial information stating that the documents related to the case were lost in the fire “therefore, it cannot be made available”.

Darvesh had asked for total expenditure incurred during the case — from 2002 till the judgment day of May 6.
