A bench of Justice R M Lodha and Justice A K Patnaik rejected the plea of Pacheco. The bench said Pacheco was “an influential political leader” and had the propensity to influence the investigation. His bail plea was rejected on the grounds that his counsel did not bring on record the fact that he had withdrawn his anticipatory bail plea from the High Court on an earlier occasion after he was asked to remain present in person.
