The incident took place near Palm Hotel in Odhav yesterday night when the security guard identified as Joginder Singh had an altercation with the victim Hiren Patel (29), who had come to collect electrical scrap material from a scrap dealer there, they said.
According to police, Patel and Singh had a fight over parking of the formers vehicle which was near the property being guarded by Singh.
Following the altercation, Singh in a fit of rage shot Patel from behind with his rifle, they said.
Patel was immediately rushed to Shardaben General Hospital where he was declared brought dead, police added.
An FIR has been registered against Singh who is absconding, police said, adding further investigation is on and the owner of the security service provider for which Singh was working was being questioned.
