Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Wednesday challenged DMK chief M Karunanidhi, who has been skipping Assembly proceedings, to attend the House and take part in discussions.

“Let him come and attend the session by exercising his democratic duty as a legislator to discuss issues concerning the people,” Panneerselvam said.

Karunanidhi, who usually moves in a wheelchair, alleged that since the AIADMK government came to power in 2011, it has not allotted proper seating arrangement for him. He said the seat arrangement  in the House made it difficult for him to sit through the proceedings. “If proper seating arrangements are made, I would attend the session provided the AIADMK legislators should also behave like how my party members conducted themselves in the House when they were in power,” he said.

Panneerselvam took a dig at the DMK chief and said that “Karunanidhi would enter the Assembly only if he is the chief minister.”
