The Tamil Nadu Police have arrested a 25-year old woman in Cuddalore district on charges of murdering a recently married sub-inspector.

Police sources said on Wednesday that the accused, K Vanitha, hailing from Chidambaram district, had an illicit relationship with the cop, who had refused to marry her. The victim, P Ganesan, who was from a village near Panruti, finished his police training and joined as a sub-inspector at Killai police station in 2012.

Ganesan was issued a transfer order in February 2013 to report for duty at Ramanatham police station in Villupuram district following complaints that he had developed an illicit relationship with a married woman, Vanitha.

She had met him in connection with a domestic issue. After they alerted the police, Vanitha was apprehended near Parangipettai. She confessed to have murdered the sub-inspector. Preliminary investigation revealed that two more people were involved in the crime. The police are on the lookout for them.
