World Junior No 2 Lakshya Sen will sprearhead the Indian charge as the team prepares to leave to Yogyakarta, Indonesia for the BWF World Junior Championships.

A contingent of 24 players who had been part of a camp at the Karnataka Badminton Association (KBA) here from September 22 will depart on Friday for the Mixed (October 9-14) and World Championship (October 16-22).

Apart from Lakshya, Karnataka’s Rahul Bharadwaj is also viewed by many as a force to reckon with and a serious medal prospect at the world meet.

Another representation from the State will be Mithula UK, who will be seen in doubles action alongside Rituparna Panda from Odisha.

Head coach Sanjeev Sachdev will accompany the side with KBA President BV Srinivas as the manager.

The team also comprises upcoming talents Aryaman Tandon and Kartikey Gulshan Kumar who will be vying for glory in the men’s singles alongside Lakshya and Bharadwaj.  

Aakarshi Kashyap, Gayatri Gopichand, Ritika Thakkar and Malvika Bansode will join the team after their engagements in Myanmar, where they are participating in the Asia Junior Championships.
