Accomplished trainer Rashid Byramji, who brought an end to a glorious six-decade long career recently, was felicitated by a host of parties on Sunday.

First the Bangalore Turf Club feted the 83-year-old legend, considered the greatest ever trainer in the country. The Karnataka Trainers Association too honoured him before the Karnataka Racehorse Owners Association showed their appreciation.

Byramji started his career in 1955 in Mumbai and went on to accomplish many great things which many feel may go unmatched. He has saddled nearly 3200 winners, including 230 Classics. Based in Bengaluru since 1965, Byramji has won a stunning 20 Indian Derbys and the Indian Turf Invitation Cup --  considered a race for the champion of champions -- a whopping 12 times, including three hat-tricks.

Squanderer, Manitou, Comanche, Astronomic, Littleover, Elusive Pimpernel, Prince Khartoum, Almanac, Track Lightning, Adler and Camineto are some of the horses made famous by the magical hands of Byramji.
