Neeraj Chopra affirmed his form with a solid throw in javelin even as Navjeet Kaur and Nayana James met the qualification guideline for the Commonwealth Games in the first Indian Grand Prix here on Tuesday.

Chopra hurled the javelin to 82.88 metres, eight centimetres more than his season-opening 82.80 at Offenburg last month. The CWG guideline is 81.80 metres.

Uttar Pradesh's Vipin Kasana also caught the eye, crossing the 80M mark for the first time, with an 80.04M throw.

Navjeet delivered a personal best of 59.18 metres to win the women's discus, going past the AFI guideline of 59 metres. In women's long jump, Nayana also surpassed the mark of 6.45 metres, with a 6.47M leap.

Shot-putter Tajinder Pal Singh Toor was another big performer, with a 19.95 metres hurl. But the guideline is pretty stiff in his event -- 20.20 metres.

Triple jumper Rakesh Babu missed the guideline by one centimetre, leaping to 16.59 for the gold.

The poor form of leading 400M runners was disconcerting on the day. National record holder Muhammed Anas was only fifth in his heat with a 51.22 timing while Anilda Thomas (54.33) and Anu Raghavan (55.56) were third in their respective heats.
