South United produced a ruthless show to drub Army Service Corps and Centre (ASC) 6-0 in the BDFA Super Division League at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Sunday. The result ended ASC’s five-match unbeaten run.

Forward Subhash (30th, 69th minutes) and midfielder Satish (36th, 82nd) netted a brace each, while a goal apiece from midfielders Manivanan (86th) and Solamalai (85th) decided the outcome of the one-sided encounter.

The win helps United move two places up into fourth spot, with seven points from five games in the points table while ASC, with 10 points from five games, are placed second.
Fresh from their 6-0 win over DYES on Tuesday, United began in dominant fashion and were on the front foot right from the first whistle.

Their superiority bore fruit when Manivanan, after making a superb run down the left flank, squared the ball for Subhash, who made no mistake from inside the box as he powered it past the ASC goalkeeper AK Balwanth.

Six minutes later, United doubled their advantage through Satish, who rose above the ASC defenders and headed in a corner from Manivanan.

The second period was no different as United kept up the pressure over the army side, who seemed to have run out of ideas. Subhash made sure ASC paid for it as he robbed defender Amit Roy off the ball in his own half and slotted it past the advancing Balwanth.
United weren’t done yet as they slammed three more goals within a period five minutes to put the result beyond any doubt. The fourth came when Solaimalai split the ASC defence open with a through pass for Satish, who placed it into the bottom right corner of the net.

Solamalai then got his much deserved goal when he slammed in a pin-point delivery from Subhash on the left flank.

Manivanan then killed the contest through his superb lob from the left flank, which landed in the back of the net over a helpless Balwanth.

Earlier in the ‘A’ Division, Naresh scored the only goal in the 59th minute as Bangalore United FC edged Bangalore Eagles 1-0.
