CM Yeddyurappa grants Rs 40 lakh for Madikeri Dasara
‘Rs 15 lakh for Dasara in Gonikoppa
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has sanctioned Rs 40 lakh for the historic Madikeri Dasara festival.
A delegation of Madikeri Dasara Committee led by MLA M P Appachu Ranjan and Town Municipality President P D Ponnappa met Yeddyurappa at his residence in Bangalore, on Sunday. The members in the delegation sought funds for the celebration of Dasara festival in Madikeri. The Town Municipality submitted a detailed proposal urging the Chief Minister to release Rs 1.76 crore for the festival. However, Yeddyurappa agreed to release Rs 40 lakh.
The same amount was released for the festival last year and a direction in this regard was also sent to departments concerned immediately. The Chief Minister is said to have agreed to release Rs 15 lakh for the celebration of Dasara festival in Gonikoppa.
‘No dissidence’
Though Appachu Ranjan was disappointed after the recent Cabinet reshuffle, he met Yeddyurappa forgetting all differences. Ranjan explained his displeasure over the cabinet reshuffle and over the injustice meted out at Kodagu district to Yeddyurappa.
Responding to the issue, Yeddyurappa said, “I also wanted to include Appachu Ranjan in the Cabinet but failed to do so due to political pressure. I will try to solve the issue and make justice to the district in future.”
Dasara Committee Office-bearers M B Devaiah, Sathish Pai, S C Subramani, Chummi Devaiah, Robin Devaiah, Unnikrishna and others spoke to the Chief Minister.
