Kishore's never-heard song to grace internet

Last Updated 10 October 2010, 18:50 IST

A never-heard song of the legendary singer will be released on October 13, his 23rd death anniversary, on a website backed by the family of late Madan Mohan to celebrate the famous composer’s music.

The song, “Ladkiyon Ko Chahiye Woh College Mein Seekhlein” was recorded in the early 1970s for a film that got shelved. It goes without saying that the song was composed by late Madan Mohan, considered among the greatest musicians to have worked in the Hindi film industry.  In face, Kishore Kumar sang some of his most memorable songs under the baton of Madan Mohan, such as “Dil Dilse Milakar Dekho”, “Aye Haseenon Nazneenon”, “Mera Naam Abdul Rahman”, “Badi Cheez Hai Pyar Mohabbat”, “Zaroorat Hai Ek Shrimati Ki”and “Har Koi Chahta Hai Ek Mutthi Aasmaan”.

Madan Mohan had also composed music for some Kishore Kumar-starrers, including “Memsahib”, “Bhai Bhai”, “Chacha Zindabad”, “Manmauji” and “Ladka Ladki”.

Talking about the song that will be released on October 13 on the website www.madanmohan.in, the composer’s son Sanjeev Kohli said: “It is a naughty, situational song and indeed different from Madanji’s style of songs. The highlight of the song is the parody element and the comic performing bits by Kishore Da.”

“This song, once again, brings to the fore the multi-faceted genius of Kishore Kumar, as well as the versatility of composer Madan Mohan. On the website, one can also hear a snippet of Madanji singing as he composed this song,” says Kohli, a senior executive with Yash Raj Films in Mumbai.

Another of the duo’s unreleased songs, “Aaj Mujhe Jal Jane Bhi Do”, was released last year on the album “Tere Bagair” and found wide appreciation from fans.

Incidentally, Madan Mohan’s family had also released two unreleased songs of Mohammad Rafi in July on the website, and the album “Tere Bagair” comprised mainly songs of Rafi from an unreleased film composed by Madan Mohan.
