Cong ignoring minorities: Sharief

Sharief said secularism had been reduced to a slogan. There was none to talk about welfare programmes for minorities, representation to the community either in the State legislature or the central legislature. “If this continues, don’t expect blind support from the minorities. You can’t take any section of society for granted,” he said.

Sharief wanted the new KPCC chief G Parameshwar to hold a workshop for introspection. That should be the first programme of the new president. He said he had given the same suggestion to R V Deshpande, former KPCC chief, but it did not happen.

Sharief said the chief minister had been shameless. He had been spending most of his time visiting temples. “He has left everybody to the mercy of god,” he remarked.
