Midnight Marathon today

Around 3000 people will take to the streets of Whitefield for the fourth edition of the Bangalore Midnight Marathon on Saturday night.

The event see the participation of 25 international athletes and eminent personalities, including Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games shooting bronze medallist Kavita Yadav, former athlete Reeth Abrahim and Karnataka rugby team captain Puneet Krishnamurthy, according to the organisers, Rotary Bangalore, IT Corridor.

The unique event with theme ‘Run for Green’, will start with the 5-km City Fun run from 8.00 pm and then move onto the full marathon (42 kms) and the half-marathon (21 kms) from 12.00 midnight. Winners of the full and the half marathon’s will take home Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.

The corporate men’s and women’s relays (8-member relay team, 5 km each), Rotary Cup (five Rotary Club-member team, 1 km each) and the community relay (five-member team, 1 km each) will start from 9.30 onwards. Proceeds from the event will go to the Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor social service projects.

On-spot registrations for the run will close at 7.00 pm for the IT Fun Run and 8.00 pm for all the other events.
