They urged the Governor to refer all land scams involving Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to Lokayukta for a thorough probe. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner Naveenraj Singh.

The protesters flayed BJP leaders for showing disrespect to Lokayukta which is a constitutionally created body and also to Justice Hegde.

They condemned CM for not cooperating with Lokayukta for investing the land scams and also sudden volte face of BJP leaders.

The National BJP leaders like Nitin Gadkari and L K Advani had convinced Hegde to withdraw his resignation when he he had resigned following differences of opinion with the government. Now the same leaders made derogatory remarks against him.

District  JD(S) president H K Javaregowda said remarks against Lokayukta were detrimental to democracy.

MLA H S Prakash demanded Yeddyurappa to step down and face the inquiry if he has any respect for democracy.

Earlier, the protest march started from Hemavathy statue and culminated at Deputy Commissioner’s office after passing through the main roads of the city.

MLC Patel Shivaram, JDS leaders K M Rajegowda, C  R Shankar and others led the rally.

‘Confiscate our property’

Reacting to CM’s allegations, the Janata Dal (Secular) Floor leader in the Legislative Assembly, H D Revanna dared Chief  Minister B S Yeddyurappa to seize property owned by any of the former’s family members in and around Bangalore.

He said there is no truth in Yeddyurappa’s statement that H D Deve Gowda’s family members owned more than 1,000 acres near Bangalore.

Addressing a news conference here, he said that CM is free to confiscate their property and distribute the same among poor after the elections to taluk and zilla panchayats.
After becoming CM, Yeddyurappa has been making such remarks against his family. The former PM, Deve Gowda has been in politics since 1962 and the government is free to order any kind of inquiry against his family. “The BJP cannot buy voters like legislators. This is the reason why CM is stating that the results of TP, ZP are not referendum for his government”.

On H D Kumaraswamy’s statement regarding unification of Janata Pariwar, Revanna said Congress leaders have not accepted Siddaramaiah as their leader since he is the leader of backward classes. The doors of JD(S) are always open for Siddaramaiah if he wishes to return to the party fold”.
