As per the website, Nitish has only Rs 31,760 in cash and Rs 57,770 in his bank account. He owns a house in Sansad Vihar (in New Delhi) valued at Rs 40 lakh and has a 2003 model Santro car. Besides, he has jewellery worth Rs 47,000, a TV, a refrigerator, a cow, an AC and an air-cooler worth Rs 1.67 lakh. Together, his property values Rs 46.42 lakh.

As against this, newcomers in his team, state Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister PK Shahi and Parveen Amanullah, have assets worth Rs 4.5 crore and Rs 75 lakh respectively.

Former advocate general of Bihar, Shahi owns land at Kushinagar, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Siwan and Gaya valued at 2.75 crore. Besides, he has Rs 70 lakh in bank accounts, investments worth Rs 50 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 27 lakh. A stickler to norms, Shahi had paid Income Tax of Rs 20 lakh in the 2009-10 fiscal.

Parveen has joint assets with her husband, Afzal Amanullah, worth Rs 75 lakh including a house in Delhi, jewellery, revolvers, a rifle and a gun.

The government website puts Nitish’s net worth much below that of his son Nishant. An engineer from BIT Mesra, Nishant, has Rs 41 lakh in his bank account, Rs 14 lakh in post office account, jewellery worth Rs 9.2 lakh and land.

Nishant’s assets increased manifold after the PF and gratuity amount of his late mother Manju Sinha (a teacher) were transferred to him.

Nitish’s Deputy Sushil Kumar Modi, in the website, claims to have just Rs 26,600 in cash. He, however, has Rs 10.56 lakh in bank, bond worth Rs 1.82 lakh and NSC worth Rs 93,000, a Swift car and 80 grams of gold valued at Rs 1.52 lakh. He has invested Rs 56.28 lakh in a house in Ghaziabad and Rs 36.7 lakh in another house. Modi says he has taken a loan of Rs 40 lakh.

The poorest of the fold is Labour Minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal, whose net worth is Rs 16.77 lakh. He owns just Rs 5,000 in cash, a Marshall jeep, 10 grams of gold ornaments and a LIC policy worth Rs 6 lakh.
