Nayak's name recommended for CIC post

A selection committee headed by Chief Minister Yeddyurappa which met on Friday finalised Nayak’s name for CIC and the file has been sent for Raj Bhavan for approval.

Speaking to reporters, Yeddyurappa said the government has recommended the names of retired IAS officer D Thangaraj, retired IPS officer M R Pujar, Shimoga-based advocate and Hubli Law University Syndicate member Ramanaik, Gadag Rotary President and Indian Medical Association member Dr Shekar D Sajjanar for appointment as  information commissioners.

Besides the Chief Minister, Higher Education Minister V S Acharya and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah are members of the committee.

As per Section 15(5) of the Right to Information Act, persons of eminence in public life and those with wide experience in law, science and technology, social service, management, mass media, administration and governance are eligible to be named Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioners.
