With many corporates making a beeline for the state in recent times, Bigwigs like Vodafone, Airtel, and Ultratech are eyeing the craze for kite as the best window for marketing.

The demand for kites has seen a sudden spurt with corporate houses placing bulk orders. Besides attractive colours, kites also carry logos and slogans to gain visibility up in the sky.

In the past, political parties exploited the marketing potential of kites. The demand is only rising with the arrival of corporate companies this year and kite makers cannot be happier.

“The business houses have approached us with bulk orders,” said Ismail Shiekh, a kite maker  in the Jamalpur area here who is working overtime to deliver the kites. They find a sudden increase in bulk orders.

“I’ve taken orders from 10 to 15 companies, with each bulk order worth at least 2.5 lakh kites. This apart, we will also take up work orders for smaller companies,” said  Ayub Pathan, another kite makers.

Major corporate like Vodafone, UTI, JP group and Amul have already approached the kite makers with specific designs and logs in mind. Almost 30 per cent of the total production of kites this year is going to the corporate world.

Shailesh Goyal, director of the PR firm Simulations said, “Gujarat has seen the arrival of new companies in the telecom and FMCG sectors. With several product launches, these companies get high-decibel visibility through such events.” He said besides brand visibility, kites are used to promote staff welfare.

Ajay Pratap Singh of Airtel cannot agree more. “Apart from the CSR it is the best way to tell the locals that it is their local brand, so we participate in such festivities,” he said.
