According to reports reaching the state capital, there has been rain in the districts of Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Shimoga, Belgaum, Haveri, Dharwad, Chikmagalur and Mysore. Weather office has forecast very to very heavy rain at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and Ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka.
Shimoga
Dandavati and Varahi rivers continued to flow near the danger mark while water level in Tunga, Bhadra and Sharavati has also risen following heavy rain in catchment areas. Dandavati has flooded a road near Haswi-Shiddihalli in Sorab taluk paralysing the vehicular movement for the second consecutive day. The level in Linganamakki reservoir rose to 1,767 feet water on Thursday against the maximum level of 1,819 feet. Water level in Bhadra reservoir stood at 144.60 feet with 14,115 cusec inflow.
Kodagu
Rivulets and rivers in Kodagu were overflowing as intensity of rains increased. Rains continued to lash in Talacauvery region also, as a result of which Bhagamandala was again inundated. Napoklu-Bhagamandala has been disconnected as the road is submerged. Bhagamandala-Madikeri road is also under water. Water level in Harangi has increased by three feet. The water level was 2,825.90 feet on Wednesday; it was 2,828.12 feet on Thursday. The inflow of water is 1,321 cusecs.
River Cauvery is overflowing. Low-lying areas in Nellihudikeri, Dubare, Rangasamudra, Guddehosur, Madapattana, Kanive, Hebbale, Torenur, Manajur, Shirangala were submerged in water.
Bagalkot
There was a good inflow of 19,439 cusec into Almatti, where the water level was 508.44 m as against the maximum level of 519.6 m. If the steady inflow continued, the reservoir would be full by the first week of August.
Udupi
As many as 11 cases of damages were reported in Udupi taluk in the last 24 hours. The loss has been estimated to be Rs 1.51 lakh. An autorickshaw driver was injured when a tree fell on the auto. A total of nine houses were partially damaged in Kundapur. River Sowparnika is flowing above the danger level. However, flood has subsided in all other rivers.
Dakshina Kannada
Except Payaswini in Sullia, all other major rivers in the district, including Netravathi and Kumaradhara, were flowing much below the danger level. Several houses were partially damaged in Bantwal taluk in the last 24 hours.
Chikmagalur
Power supply was disrupted in Kalasa as the power lines were damaged by gusty winds. Agriculture activities have come to a standstill as fields are flodded. Hemavathi river is in full spate.
Mysore
The water level at KRS on Thursday was 90 ft as against the maximum level of 124.80 ft and the inflow was 18,503 cusec.
The water level at Hemavathy Reservoir was 2884.97 ft as against the maximum level of 2922 ft. The inflow into the reservoir was 12,600 cusec.
The authorities have asked people living in low-lying areas of River Kapila to move to safer places following heavy discharge from the reservoir. The inflow into the reservoir, whose level was four feet short of maximum level of 2284 ft, was 15,000 cusec.
Uttara Kannada
Life was thrown out of gear in Karwar, while Badagani, Bhaskeri, and Gundabala rivers were in spate.
More than 500 flood affected people of Kadatoka, Madanageri, Haladipur, and Mugwa gram panchayat limits in Honnavar taluk have been shifted to safer places. At least 239 people have been provided temporary accommodation at five gruel centres. The flood damage in Uttara Kannada district has been estimated at Rs one crore, according to Deputy Commissioner N S Chennmappagouda.
Dharwad
Hubli-Dharwad also experienced incessant rains from Wednesday midnight to Thursday afternoon. While one small house partially collapsed in Dharwad, two small houses partially collapsed in Hubli City. However, there was no report of loss of life. Nevertheless, school and college goers, and office goers found it a bit hard to reach their respective destinations in the rains.
Belgaum
Many parts of Belgaum have also been experiencing rains. Several low-lying areas were flooded following heavy rains
