Suresh Gowda (BJP) said Kumaraswamy’s remarks spoiled the image of the Assembly. BJP MLC G Madhusudhan, who moved the motion in the Council, accused Kumaraswamy of showing disrespect to the legislature.

Kumaraswamy on Tuesday, reportedly said the ruling party has turned the Assembly into a “toddy shop”. On January 2, he had said his party will stall the proceedings of the House till Yeddyurappa resigns. Law Minister Suresh Kumar urged the Speaker to refer it to the Lok Sabha Speaker for action.

Speaker Bopaiah said he would write to the Lok Sabha Speaker on the issue, while Council Chairman D H Shankarmurthy said he will take an appropriate decision on the notice. Kumaraswamy said he is capable of giving a reply in the House, if necessary.
