Secretary to the Commission, Srivatsa Kedilaya, said the High Court had restrained the panel from recording evidence and passing interim orders. Barring these two activities, the commission can continue with routine correspondence, he said.

JD(S) legislator Y S V Datta had moved the court questioning the appointment of the Commission, which has served notices to BDA, KHB and KIADB seeking details of land allotments made since 1995. The departments have been asked to furnish details by January 30. “The commission can receive responses to the notices. A few people have filed complaints. There is no restriction on receiving them,” Kedilaya said.

The Commission had written to the Centre seeking its concurrence to utilise the services of the CBI in the course of inquiry. It is yet to get a response from the Centre.
