Seminar on Kuvempu's thoughts tomorrow in city

Vedike President K S Shivaram told media on Thursday that the seminar has been organised as part of the poet laureate’s birthday celebrations. Rangayana Director Prof Lingadevaru Halemane will inaugurate the seminar on the day at 10 am.
Prof K S Bhagawan presides. Prof Aravind Malagathi will deliver the key-note address, he said. 

Prior to the main event, a jatha to spread ‘vishwamanava’ messages of the poet will be taken out from Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple premises to the programme venue. Journalist Rajashekar Koti will flag off the jatha.

‘Geeth Sangam’

The hit numbers of yesteryears, a mix of both sandalwood and bollywood would be presented at ‘Geeth Sangam’ a musical nite on January 22 at Kalamandira.

Singer G Kavitha Kamath, the brain behind the music programme said ‘it was her long pending desire to present such a programme for the connoisseurs of music’.

Kavitha will be accompanied by co-singers Dr P A Kushalappa, Sadashiv Shenoy and Sahana Nayak. About 24 songs that enriched the respective film industries between 1950 and 80 would be rendered.

The main aim is to remind the younger generation of the rich contribution of music directors and singers of yore.

Book release programme

Chinmaya, a book authored by writer Jaya Appaji would be released at a programme to be held at Hotel Govardhan on Jan 23 at 10.30 am. MLC Sandesh Nagaraj would released the book, while writer Vimalashri would speak on the book. Former mayor Vasu would preside, a press release said.

P Saradamma, Deputy Director of Pre-University Education, president of SVEI Education Trust M K Potharaj would be chief guests. The book release programme will be followed by a vocal programme by Shashishakala Chandrashekar.

Career guidance

Rotary Mysore Mid-town is holding a career guidance programme Diksoochi - 2011, for X standard students at Sir M V Hall, Institution of Engineers on January 22 at 9.30 am.

Renowned Columnist Dr Ali Khwaja will inaugurate the programme. Experts in various fields will particpate.
