Nataraj described the posts of Mayor and Commissioner as husband and wife, and said: “Differences of opinion are quite common between husband and wife, but they should move on with proper understanding. Accordingly, myself and the commissioner will work together in the coming days.”

He claimed that he had not hindered the Commissioner from discharging his duties, but had instructed Siddaiah to keep him informed, before taking any major decision.

Commissioner Siddaiah said he had no differences of opinion with any corporator, including the mayor.
“Communication gap had created some sort of problem. I also committed some mistakes. I will set them right soon. I will provide detailed information on all the subjects to the mayor and will extend full cooperation in his work,” he said.

The Commissioner’s statement that the Council’s decision to assign projects to be taken up under the Mayor and Deputy Mayor’s funds to KREDL was sent to the State Government, had given rise to much speculation.

Govt directive

Replying to a question, Siddaiah justified his stand and said he would act according to the Government’s directives.

Cutting across party lines, the corporators had opposed the decision to assign the projects to KREDL for execution, due to poor quality maintained by it in its projects.

A meeting to evolve a compromising formula between the mayor and the commissioner took place in the presence of Education and Sports Standing Committee chairman B V Ganesh for two hours before the press conference began.
