Awareness on cadaver donation

A programme to create awareness on body donation has been organised by Medhini Mahila Sangha of Nataraja Women’s College, said its Principal Vasanthi Reena Williams.

Medical Education and District In-charge Minister S A Ramdas will inaugurate the programme.
Prathistana President and Hosamutt Seer Sri Chidananda graces.

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment C Narendra, MLC G Madhusudhan are among other invitees.

Checking myth

The programme aims to dispelling the myth about body nation. Though the process has many takers nowadays, still many are unwilling due to some wrong conceived notions.

Dr Shyamsundar from JSS Medical College, Dr Chandrakumar from K R Hospital and Dr Shobha will talk on the subject.

103 donate body

Over 1,000 have registered to donate their bodies at JSS Medical College. Among them, 103 bodies have been kept in the laboratory.

Incidentally, the then Minister D T Jayakumar who opened the respective department, too made a will to donate his body to the college, which was carried out by his family members. However, bodies relating to unnatural deaths are not accepted.
