Shivraj Patil among six to get KU doctorate

Chairing the special Academic Council meeting held at Senate hall on the varsity campus on Monday, Vice-Chancellor H B Walikar said the doctorate degrees would be awarded to Punjab Governor and former Union Minister Shivraj Patil, UGC Chairman Shukhdeo Thorat, JSS Education Society Secretary Na Vajrakumar, Kendra Sahitya Academy awardee Kum Veerabhadrappa, Fr Jacob, and Rev B F Dandin.

However, date of the convocation is yet to be finalised. He said the convocation, which was earlier scheduled for February 7, was postponed on the directions of Higher Education Minister V S Acharya, who is also the pro-chancellor of the university. He said the university has requested Governor and Chancellor of the varsity H R Bhardwaj to suggest a date to schedule the event before February 25.
