Pavithra’s stout refusal to respond to his advances had apparently angered Raju, causing him to commit the murder, said the police.

The drama unfolded around 9 pm when Raju arrived at an abandoned building where Pavithra was sleeping with Aishwarya, nephew Charla, and her brother Antony. According to the police, Raju woke up Pavithra after about an hour and sought sexual favours from her. But she refused and this enraged Raju, who allegedly slit her throat with a knife.

Pavithra’s screams alerted Aishwarya and Antony. But Raju, who was drunk and had come prepared to execute his plan, was not ready to back off. As Pavithra bled to death, he is alleged to have stabbed Aishwarya, killing her on the spot. He then attacked Charla, and turned his ire on Antony, who intervened. But Antony managed to escape unhurt, while Charla was grievously wounded.

Nizam, a customer in a nearby bar, rushed to the spot and caught Raju. But Nizam too suffered injuries when Raju brandished his knife. Eventually, the public overpowered him and handed him over to the police. While Nizam was shifted to Jain hospital, Charla was taken to Baptist Hospital. Charla sustained severe wounds on her abdomen.

Police said Pavithra from Tamil Nadu was married and her husband had left her a few years ago. She came to Bangalore along with her sister’s daughter Aishwarya and son, Charla. Raju, who is also from Tamil Nadu, worked as a drainage cleaner in Marathahalli.

Raju had noticed Pavithra staying in the abandoned building. She used to sleep with the two children and Antony on the terrace. On two or three occasions, he had reportedly sought sexual favours from Pavithra, but she had refused.

Having arrested Raju, the police are continuing investigations. The bodies were shifted for post mortem.
