Corruption remarks by GV not apt, says Karjol

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Karjol said Venkatasubbaiah could have avoided making such controversial statements during the Kannada meet. “He only pointed fingers at the state. What about corruption in the Central government”, he asked.

Prof Venkatasubbaiah in his presidential address at the 77th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana had said that Karnataka had “earned the dubious reputation of being the most corrupt state in the country”.

Karjol said preparations were in full swing for holding the Vishwa Kannada Sammelana in Belgaum in March this year. The government had sanctioned Rs 30 crore for the meet.
A glass house on the lines of the one in Lalbagh will be built at the venue, he said.
