Double delirium

Last Updated 04 March 2011, 18:34 IST

One roars like a lion, the other growls like a tiger. Between their roars and growls lies a torrid tale of two brothers — Shiva and Ashok, poles apart in disposition, that you scoot before being snapped up by either of these ferocious felines.

Concocting a head-splitting commercial cocktail, director Sai Ramani makes mincemeat of Singam Puli by giving a double dhamaka of Jeeva — Shiva, a honest, simple fisherman and Ashok, a lustful lawyer given to bedding every girl in town. How they slug it out when Shiva tries to expose Ashok’s misdeeds forms the high decibel drama. Instead of being regaled by the jest and joust Jeevas and Co indulge in, you are left wincing. Singam Puli may be a double delight for Jeeva fans; for the rest, it’s like being devoured by two savage animals.
