M G Road Bazaar, a unique opportunity for sale of different merchandise with special offers and gifts, is set to bring the business sheen of M G Road back after the recession and the metro work. Being organised by the Bangalore Trades' Association (BTA), the festival begins on Saturday and will be on till April 11.

Aimed at bringing a stream of enthusiastic visitors to M G Road, the unique festival will take the shopping experience of Bangaloreans to a different level altogether.

Sreesh R Babu, Secretary, BTA, hoped that the festival would boost the shopping festivities of Ugadi. Besides, the effort was the only way to stand up against the mall culture, Babu added. Shoppers, too, will have a lot to rejoice for as special gifts and exclusive discounts will be on offer.

As part of the festival, the entire stretch will be lit up and given a bridal look. The event will not be just a shopping enterprise. It will also have entertainment programmes like dance, music, and magic shows in which shoppers and visitors can take part.  The Bazaar would be followed by a series of events and programmes in future, Babu said adding that traders and shoppers would reap better benefits.

Going by the spontaneous and the abundant response from traders, Babu hoped that the Bazaar would help restore the old majestic glory of M G Road.
BTA, established in 1899 by 56 like-minded enterprising businessmen, is the oldest trade body in the City. It has a vision to safeguard the interests of the community in general and businessmen in particular.

Looking back at its rich history, one finds an array of accomplishments. The Association has planned a number of innovative programmes such as blood donation camps and management workshops.

For the members, it conducts free health check-up and consultation, free legal assistance, free chartered accountant’s consultation, communication services, professional training for salesmen/employees of member establishments, and procuring coins from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and supplying them to member establishments.

BTA is also a platform for communal harmony. Member establishments willingly light up M G Road, Brigade Road, and Residency Road during Diwali and Christmas celebrations.
