The 44-year-old boxer, who was approached by the show's representatives, said he refused to participate as the gig was not lucrative enough for him, reported Daily Star online.
"They don't pay as much (in America). Have cheque, will dance," said the undisputed heavyweight champion.
Tyson, who was famous for his ferocious and intimidating boxing style inside the ring, has done a cameo in 'Hangover' and 'Hangover 2'.
The boxer was seen showing off his fancy footwork on the Argentinian version of the hit dance competition and Tyson admits he would have loved to follow fellow fighters Evander Holyfield and Sugar Ray Leonard onto the US dancefloor.
But the lack of a generous offer has forced him to reject the offer.
