"As Honda plants in Thailand have been severely affected, we are facing a parts shortage at HSCI (Honda Siel Cars) too and are forced to reduce production," said Takashi Nagai, president and chief executive, HSCI, in a statement.

According to Nagai, the company is making concerted efforts to resume full production as soon as possible.

The statement said that even the company's suppliers, based in northern and central Thailand, have been hit.

"HSCI’s production in the month of November will be severely impacted and December production too will be curtailed," the statement said, adding that the full extent of the impact is still being assessed.

The parts shortage is expected to affect all the models manufactured in India.

"The impact will be much more on the Honda Brio, Jazz and City because of their larger volumes," the statement added.
