'Untrustworthy' people ditched BSY: Shobha

Last Updated 27 February 2012, 17:47 IST

Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje, a close aide of Yeddyurappa, said on Monday that he had been ditched by untrustworthy people in the party.

However, there were enough people who are trustworthy and who would stand by him through thick and thin, she said. The Minister was speaking at the birthday celebrations of the former chief minister in the city.

Recalling how he strived to build the party, she said the several programmes he had implemented for the welfare of women would help him in the coming days.

“Lakhs of women who have benefited from his programmes will stand by him. Women never forget those who help them in difficult times,” she said.

Karandlaje had not expressed her mind on the developments surrounding Yeddyurappa in the recent past. But she had stood by her mentor. Yeddyurappa also found a vocal supporter in Shivamurthy Swami of Murugharajendra Mutt at the same programme. He said the BJP should take appropriate steps on Yeddyurappa’s demands before he loses patience.

Despite having the support of more than 60 party MLAs, he said Yeddyurappa had kept quiet. This shows the endurance level of Yeddyurappa, the seer said.

“Yeddyurappa does not have many enemies outside. They are inside the party. If he can manage them properly, he will have a smooth sail,” the Swami said. Eight ministers in the Gowda Cabinet, who took part in the function, pledged their support to Yeddyurappa and hailed his contribution for the development of backward classes.
