Dean and director of the PSSB Group of Schools in Chennai, Dr Parthasarthy would be presented with the Achievement Medal for Leadership and Commitment to Excellence in Education by the Virginia-based Centre for Excellence in Education (CEE).

The award would be presented to her on September 12, along with four other recipients. Two of the recipients are international awardees including Parthasarthy.

"Each of the CEE esteemed medalists has led efforts to promote meritocracy in education. They have been an inspiration to the Center and to educational advocates throughout the global community," the centre said in a statement.

Parthasarthy is an Indian legend in education, a staunch follower of Vaishnavism, an art connoisseur, and a visionary in progressive practices of schooling. She started assertive discipline for students and made the schools do away with ranks, the centre said.

Parthasarthy established the PSBB school system to enable the students to discover the uniqueness in each of them by integrating creativity into the curriculum. Her trend setting ideas like Math Lab, Language Lab, Creative Science Lab, and Social Science Lab have been adopted by the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

"CEE has been a leading organisation promoting US innovation, competitiveness, and international collaboration among nations for 25 years," said Joann DiGennaro, president CEE.

"I commend the Center's Achievement Medal Awardees for their commitment to excellence in education. It is an exceptional honour for CEE to bestow its annual medals to such esteemed individuals," DiGennaro said.
