BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said India has lost a golden chance to become an economic giant, thanks to rampant corruption.

He also expressed concern over the security scenario in the country, indirectly referring to the current controversy related to army general V K Singh's letter.

He made a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit alleging widespread corruption in the Capital, on the sidelines of release of his booklet titled  Ghotale Hi Ghotale.

The book is about scores of scams that took place during the regime of Congress in the state and at the Centre.

“The CM has been indicted by the prime minister appointed Shunglu Committee and CAG. Even Delhi Lokayukta has proved several charges of corruption against her for misusing powers several times in the past and yet she continues to enjoy the support of the Congress high command,” said Gadkari.

He also said that corruption during the present UPA government has prevented India from strengthening itself economically.

He added, “Due to the wrong policies of Central government, India has lost credibility before the world. Various international bodies have also criticised the present government several times on account of corruption.”

Gadkari said “alarm bells” are also ringing on the security of the country.

Delhi state president Vijender Gupta said that the booklet will be distributed to people so that they could decide for themselves as to who should be chosen in the upcoming MCD elections.

The booklet narrates various scams — Commonwealth Games scam, land scam, Yamuna cleaning scam, PDS scam, slum cluster scam, PWD scam.

Delhi in-charge M Venkaiah Naidu, leader of Opposition in Delhi legislative assembly Prof V K Malhotra, National general secretary Vijay Goel, former Pradesh President Dr Harsh Vardhan were also present on the occasion.
