A youth was shot dead at his house at Trilokpuri in east Delhi on Sunday night. Investigators suspect that the victim knew the killer.

Sameer Ahmed, 21, completed school recently and applied for admission in Bachelors of
Arts. Sameer’s father Aqueel Ahmed is a transporter in east Delhi.

Sameer was alone in the house as his family members had gone to a relative’s place nearby when the incident took place.

“A country-made pistol was found from the spot which suggests that the assailants, after killing him, left the pistol over on the spot  in haste and they were not professional killers,” said a senior police officer.

Neighbours informed police and rushed the deceased to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he was declared dead. He received bullet injury on his head, said the officer.

“We received a call at the police control room at 9:30 pm on Sunday. The caller told police that a youth was lying in a pool of blood inside house number B/247 in Trilokpuri,” said the officer.

A forensic team was sent to the spot and evidence was collected for further investigation. Police suspect that the accused was known to the victim. “We are also going through the call records of Sameer’s cellphone. It might be a case of personal enmity also. An investigation is on to identity the accused and nab them,” said the officer.
