High Court allows transfer of auto permits

The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday upheld a single judge order allowing transfer of autorickshaw permits.

The Akhila Karnataka Shramajeeviagala Kshemabhivruddhi Sangha had challenged the order of the single judge whhich directed the State government to ensure transfer of permits in accordance with a circular dated March 23, 2011. Justice B S Patil, had refused to grant stay on transfer of permits saying that there was no such provision.

However, he had directed the government to evolve a procedure for transfer of permits.
The appellant Sangha contended that the single judge failed to note that the petititioner had sought for a ban on transfer of permits.
