Beerappa, Rajiva slam half-centuries in BEL's victory

Bangalore, September 4, 2012, DHNS:

Riding on half-centuries from Beerappa and Rajiva, BEL Colony Recreation Club scored a seven-wicket win over Century Cricketers in the Dell-KSCA Group I, Division IV tournament for the Metro Shield here.

After bowling out Century for 200 in 42.1 overs, thanks to two wickets apiece from Rajiva, Kishan and Suresh Babu, BEL then chased down the target in just 37.2 overs.

While Beerappa struck a fine 72, Rajiva hit an unbeaten 57.

Brief scores: Century Cricketers: 200 all out in 42.1 overs (Deepak 60, Vineeth 48; Rajiva 2-31, Kishan 2-28, Suresh Babu 2-13) lt to BEL Colony Recreation Club: 203/3 in 37.2 overs (Suresh Babu 44, Beerappa 72, Rajiva 57 n.o.).

Minvera Cricket Club: 179 all out in 45.2 overs (Mithun 34, Miniraju 27, Vijay Kumar 25; Yogesh 4-32, Senthil Kumar 3-43) bt Viveknagar Cricketers: 143 all out in 44.2 overs (Mathews 27, Senthil Kumar 30; Tharun 4-32, Vineeth 3-28, Mithun 2-28).

Jeevanbheemanagar CC: 137 all out in 41 overs (Subbaraj 48 n.o.; Maheswaran 3-35, Subhan Khan 2-36, Dhanajaya S 2-23) lt to Wilson Garden CC: 143/4 in 26.1 overs (Sourabh Rawath 50, Kudeep 60 n.o.; Nagesh 3-22).

Young Challenging Cricketers: 211/8 in 50 overs (Mithun Bhatt 40, Akash Shenvi 48, MS Vinay 26, S Venkatesh 33, BA Vinay 43 n.o.; Pramod 2-47, B Gangadhar 2-47) lt to Unique Cricket Club: 214/7 in 47.5 overs (MB Basavaraj 33, Sanjay P Mutha 82; M Nagaraj 2-35, M Guruprasad 3-25).

Nitin shines

Nitin’s five-wicket haul was the cornerstone in Shanthiniketan School, Bilkehalli’s 59-run win over Air Force School, Yelehanka in DELL-KSCA under-16 inter-school tournament for Divison II teams.

Batting first, Shanthiniketan School posted 202 all out in 45.5 overs. Vishal hit 35 while Vineeth Rakesh made a useful 28.

Chasing a tricky target, Air Force School collapsed like nine pins, folding up for a dismal 143 in 29.3 overs.

Nitin was the wrecker-in-chief, sclaping five for 33 while Vineeth chipped in with four for 38.

Brief scores: Shanthiniketan School, Bilkehalli: 202 all out in 45.5 overs (Vineeth Rakesh 28, Vishal 35; Gaurav 3-46) bt Air Force School, Yelahanka: 143 all out in 29.3 overs (Dheeraj 28; Nitin 5-33, Vineeth Rakesh 4-38).

Mallya Aditi International School: 170 all out in 30.3 overs (Divyamshu 44, Vikram H 45; Yeshwanath 4-40, Sumanth 3-35) lt to Cambridge Public School, HSR Layout: 174/8 in 38.1 overs (Brihadeshwaran 81; Zohan 4-40, Ishas 3-11).
