Two men have been arrested for killing a hairstylist, whose body was recovered at his home in Vasant Vihar of south Delhi last week, police said on Wednesday.

Nand Kishore, 24, and Dalip Sharma, 27, were held on Tuesday for murdering Bimal Gurang, whose decomposed body was found in a naked condition with his hands and legs tied on September 6.

Another accused in this case, Pradeep Kumar, 24, was already in police remand for involvement in a motor vehicle theft case.

Bimal, who hailed from West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district, worked with a prominent salon at Rajouri Garden.

“Nand has confessed that he met Bimal at a bus stop in Safdarjung Enclave a few months back. They became friends and later Nand decided to rob Bimal to fulfill his requirements of drugs and day-to-day expense,” said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south).

It has also come to light that Nand and Bimal had sexual relations. On August 31, Nand along with his accomplices made a recee of Bimal’s house and on September 3, they went to his house with some beer.

They found the house was locked. So they borrowed the mobile phone from a local and made a call to Bimal to avoid detection.

“After Bimal returned home, they consumed beer, and Nand and Bimal had sex. As per plan, they then strangled Bimal and tied his hands and legs,” Sharma added.
Once they were sure that Bimal died, they robbed all his belongings and fled from the spot in an autorickshaw. On their way, they dropped Bimal’s mobile phone near Delhi Cantonment to avoid being tracked by police.

“They also tried to withdraw money with Bimal’s ATM card, but failed,” Sharma said.
They distributed the booty at Rajapuri and then went to their hideouts.

They were held after police traced the last call made to Bimal’s mobile phone. The owner of the number told police that three men had met him at Ber Sarai around 9 pm on September 3 and borrowed his mobile phone for making an urgent call.
A police team also unearthed footage from a CCTV installed near Bimal’s house, which captured the three men making a call from the mobile phone.

“We developed photographs of the suspected persons and on Tuesday, we received a secret information that a suspect was seen at DDA Park in RK Puram sector 12,” Sharma added.

A team reached the spot and overpowered Nand and Dalip.
